First “Dementia village” to open in Ireland this year

4,000 steps a day for a better brain

A recent study by the UCLA research, published in the pre-print December edition of the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease, showed that walking more than 4,000 steps a day can improve attention and mental skills in adults 60 and older.

The study participants were divided into one of two groups: those who walked more than 4,000 steps a day and those who walked fewer steps.

Dancing can reverse the signs of aging in the brain

As we grow older we suffer a decline in mental and physical fitness. A new study, published in the journal Frontiers in Human Neuroscience, shows that older people who routinely partake in physical exercise can reverse the signs of ageing in the brain, and dancing has the most profound effect.
